Well it was our first unofficial pinewood derby year for Ethan (He's not technically in Wolves, but since Scott is the Den Leader he goes anyway). He was sooo excited to build the car and had been asking Scott for weeks to help. He finally built the car, did it mostly himself and he was so proud!
Then Dad took it to be weighed and realized they were a little out of their league. Pretty much this is the kind of cars being entered...you tell me if your scout could have built this one on his own....
I mean....seriously....military grade turbo charged...for real???
(This was just an example I found online...but you get the point)
It was a lesson in "who cares what the other boys cars look like"...."we are having fun right?" It's not the "you win the best dad award" derby night...
They almost backed out of the race...but Mom refused to be intimidated by the competition.
It was race the derby or die!!
It ended up being a fun night...and he beat the dummy cars!
He won "Most Expensive Car" award....I think there was about $1.50 in quarters in weight glued to the top. Way to go Ethan!! Thats what is all about right? RIGHT?
"So Dad.....can you please help me with my car next year?"
Sure thing son....The website for next years car can be found here
